I have a 7" oscar with a colony of 9 Geo redheads, and it's been working out great for me. As with every fish comparability question, it really depends on the personality of your fish. There is really no way to predict for sure.
Your o is only a few months old and not full grown, that's not really the litmus test tank. IMO you'll probably run into some problems when that o gets bigger. Something working for a few months doesn't mean it will work long term.

I hear you. Thanks for the advice. But again, your use of "probably" and "be prepared in case" makes a lot of sense, since you never know what is going to happen. Even generally peaceful fish can decide they don't like one of their roommates and turn on them. These are animals that run on instinct, and there are no hard and fast rules that you can always follow as law.
Also, don't underestimate a geo's ability to defend itself.
I had mine in with some red head taps also in a 125g and it worked for a bit, the o definitely was the boss. I moved him out after someone stayed over one weekend in the spare room where the tank is and reported that when I wasn't in the room the Oscar would pick one if the geos and "corner" and basically terrorize/bully it. I decided it wasn't the best situation for the geos and the Oscar can have a 90 to itself for now
