This morning during feeding time, one of my Geo Tapajos jumped out of the tank. I didn't see it, but I heard a noise. Thought it might have been water splashing, but each count I did came up 1 short. Then I heard him flopping behind the tank on the stand where it's wider than the tank. I could see him but couldn't reach back there. Then he flopped onto the floor, into a 3 inch space between the stand and wall.
The only way I could reach him was squeezing over the sump but below the plumbing. It was a tight fit, almost got stuck but still couldn't reach him. Finally after about 5 minutes, a using a stick, I saw him on the right side of the tank, which is also a small gap against a wall.
I was able to reach him but he looked dead. He was out for probably 5 minutes (seemed like forever). Held him upright in the tank and after floating for a second, he came back.
When I left for work after 15 mins watching him, he was able to swim, but he was mostly just resting upright on the bottom. He's a juvie, about 2 inches.
I have to wait until after work tonight to find out if he made it... Any opinions if he'll recover?
