Once and for all are they the same species and/or subspecies? In the photos I have seen, it looks like the markings on the fins and tail are different looking in some photos of the redheads. The fins and tails look more like altifrons where the colors are more mixed up while the orangeheads have their colors in horizontal lines. The ones I have were sold to me as Geo "peachface" but they look exactly like all the photos I have seen of orangeheads. I am looking for some females to add to my group and want to ensure that I get the exact same type as what I currently have. Thanks,

Jim

That's the problem with common names. I've seen them listed as "Tapajos," "Red Head Tapajos," "Orange Head Tapajos," etc.

Thomas Weidner in his book "South American Eartheaters" refers to them as orange head Tapajos. Red head Tapajos is given by lfs and passed along through the hobbyist network. They are the same fish.

Neither of them are species.
They are unclassified variants, with names like "Tapajos" referring to the river they came from. They may be lumped together as one varied species, but I think with the current trend towards splitting they could be classified as several different species, when someone finally reviews them.
