That's what I thought, too...but man I just wanted to justify it somehow, someway to being the real thing :D

i have bought many fish that were supposed to be pellegrini everytime except once they were steindachneri, i bought pellegrini from jeff rapps about 3 years agao just sold my breeding group about 6 months ago, i still have 12 fry i'm growing out....

Pictures? and how's the temperament?

sorry no pics, they are the real deal i paid $50 for 1" fish, i had a breeding group of 6 males and 2 females in a 55 not really that aggressive........males would turn orange red when breeding really neat fish....

Remember most fish sold as pellegrini are usually crassilabris instead ... I thought I remember Rapps importing them from Europe once a while ago, but I never pics of them. It would be neat if we could get some pics of yours newworld ... would love to have Dr. Newman take a look and see if they are the real one. Not that I doubt Rapps, but a lot of collectors send crassilabris as pellegrini and they look very similar. I know Dr. Newman has stated he's yet to see pellegrini in the US or Canada yet, and would be very excited to see your pics.

i wish i can get pics too they look identical to weidners eartheaters pellegrini pics, i have kept crassilabris in the past too, which is a larger fish......both those fish are easily confused, as with steindachneri which doesn't look like either when full grown....
