I don’t know
sorry if this is a triple post- app keeps crashing.
Looking for other people's pellegrini setups- tankmates, temp etc.

Also wondering approx when these fish mature/color-up? I know they grow slowly.
I have 1, 4" wild caught. 5, 2" CB bred in another tank. Hoping for a male attached is a pic of the wc individual.

Yeah this is probably a female. My wild adult males are pretty colored up at 4". My wild juvenile males are already showing color at 2".

Judging by color alone, this is definitely a female. Even when my males were stressed from shipping, they had pretty visible coloration.

I am currently keeping three 4-5" adults and six 1.5-2" juvies in a six foot 155 gallon tank with seven Retroculus lapidifer and a few juvenile aequidens diadema. The pellegrini and retroculus love high flow so I've got a Jebao 10000 running on a closed loop and 2 SunSun 304B canisters. Temperature runs between 84 and 86 right now as its the hottest part of the year and tanks are in the garage. Ill probably allow the temperature to get down to 78 at its lowest point in the winter.

I will be looking to upgrade the closed loop into a sump system in the next few months just for ease of maintenance and cut down on power consumption.

I also only have one $15 36-inch led strip from Home Depot over the tank. I don't really like to blast my fish with light and they don't really get spooked when I turn it on since it's not too bright and there's natural ambient light from two windows in the garage.

As far as the tank decor, I have a roughly 1.5" layer of 80% sand mixed with 20% small smooth pebbles (for the Retroculus). The pellegrini don't seem to have any issues with the sand/pebble mix. I also have a couple large pieces of driftwood for some bristlenose plecos to hide under during the day.

I have an 8 inch male and he is not all that much more colorful than yours (maybe more yellow, but lacking in the red hues). It is my understanding that different localities of the Pelligrini lead to differing degrees of red coloration. Some are strikingly red while others (like mine) remain also entirely yellow. Also, I suspect the presence of a female may help the male to color up, but I'm venturing a guess on that as I only have a lone male amongst my Mirabellis.

As for temp. I kept him at 82-84 for a several months while I was also housing a juvie Uaru, but since moving on from the Uaru I've lowered the tank to 80 with no discernible issues.

For decor, I use pool sand with a large piece of driftwood and a number of swords and cryptos.

Hey, did you end up with any males? I got unlucky. Got 4 from Rapps year and a half ago and ended up with 4 females
