OK so a lfs close by was going out of business. And they've had F0 red humps for a few months and they weren't selling. So i went in today (they're last day in business). And they had them 3 for 4 bucks. So i figured alright ill get six, grow em out hope for a pair. Told the guy, and he goes ill sell you whats left in the tank a buck a piece. So 15 minutes later the guy finishes bagging the fish i figure alright there has to be maybe 12. Well i walked out of there with 19 G. steindachneri.

I have no idea what im gonna do with them all. set up a 55 i guess. Give some to my dad. If any colorado members need red hump for their geo collection let me know. ive got enough. Ill post pics of the mass soon.

They do not form pairs the male will breed with multiple females, the are moothbrooders and very prolific.

^ this.

They are a harem breeding fish. Keep as many females as you can for a good male to female ratio (would love to get my hands on a few groups of 1m/4f) and that tank is going to be a lot of fun to watch. :headbang2

I kept 1m/3f and they bred like nuts. Females are totally non-aggressive, but when males get big, they will fight. Traded my breeding colony for my current silver aro. Still have some 2" steindachneri in my 55g growout which is full of fronts.

As per both of the previous posters they are best 1:4 ratio and the males are almost Hyperactive at a decent size and will hold their own against a surprising range of fish.
