i want to do a geo tank in my 55 gallon

here is my idea

1 severum
1 pike
1 EBJD
3 geo

how do that sound?

the tank size is too small for that stock. maybe you can get away with keeping them in there for 6+ months or so- but you would seriously have to upgrade. a 75 would be minimum- i wouldnt stock that unless i had a 90+ gal in the long run.

If you're interested- depending on which geophagus- you might be able to get away with a species only tank with the 55. still, that would mean more water changing in the long run. good luck and hope you find the appropriate means to stock those fish. my two cents on the ebjd, i would house that solo until it's immune system is better developed.

As before, don't do more than 3 of your choices in a 55.....

As for the geos, it depends on which geophagines you go with. I grew out a Heckelii and Leuc. in the 3" range with my big Abalios in a 55, and wouldn't have added anything else.. Which ones are you interested in? I would stear clear of the brazilian type ones, and Altifrons, but others are possible..

Also with eartheaters, you'll need to get rid of your gravel and get either sand or fine crushed gravel. Yes it can be done with gravel, but it can get stuck in their mouths, and really shouldn't be chanced..

Many of the Pike species get quite big and quite aggressive... there are some dwarf species that would work with these fish, but be sure to do your homework...

There are many Geo species, so again, doing your homework will be critical...

I have Blue adult Blue Dempseys with adult Red Hump Geos and they get along fine... I've kept Adult Blue Dempseys with Adult Severums in the past and they did fine together...

But I agree a 55 gal is to small to house everything you want together... I suggest removing the Severum from the list, ensuring you choose a smaller growing compatible Pike and a smaller growing compatible m/ff trio of Geos... and your chances of success are high....

Thats nearly the same stock list as my proposed one!

I have my lil EBJD, getting a Severum (H. Appendiculatus) at the weekend and then in a month I will be getting 3 x G. redhead Tapajos.

There are 6 Congo Tetras in there too who are getting along fine so far with my EBJD.

My tank is a 92 US gallon corner.

they're basically the same tank, a 90g is just taller so it wouldn't really affect the stock

realistically you already need a 75g+ with what you have, assuming you still have your eartheater, ebjd, pike, and bichir from before. to add some more geos you're gonna need a longer tank, 5-6ft, not a 4ft tank

true. i just wanted to emphasize that his stock would be better off with a larger volume. nonetheless i complete agree. like the others have said- maybe cut out the larger severums and narrowing down what small geos you have access to. goodluck
