what geos could i put in my 55 gallon tank? i want a geo tank.

various gymnogeophagus would do well.

no offense, but have you tried the search function on the forum? there are tons of threads with people talking about geos and tank size, let alone every other fish that you have questioned about.

most geo species get a decent size and since they like to be in groups, a 55g does not make a good geo/satan tank. a group gymnos would work well but keep in mind with they like a cool down period and pick tankmates wisely

here what i have decided on i am going to have 2 geo and 1 sev.

Hey try species gymnogeophagus, they are like geophagus but smaller! They still sift through the sand and are peaceful. I currently have G. n. sp "Sequiera" and G. labiatus in a 60g and they are awesome fish! They'll need a cool down period in the winter but otherwise are easy to take care of. There are other species and aqvaterra.com is a good site to look at all the varients.

ok i will try the web site.

A breeding pair of the smaller adult geos (ie not Altifrons/Abalios) would work and you could also have some younger ones in there with them.

I had two pairs of orangeheads in a 55g for a while before upgrading, there wasn't ever a problem and one pair bred in that setup.

As stated, the nice thing about these fish with smaller tanks is that they grow slow anyway. So you can get away with a smaller tank for a while if you don't buy the fish as full grown adults.

Just make sure you overdo the filtration and water changes. These guys all like really clean water. The smaller the tank, the more often you have to clean it.
