hey guys I posted this in aquaria central but no response yet so...
today I noticed their is a small raised white lump on the upper part of one the eyes of one of my geophagus "surinamensis." This fish and the 2 other geos he is living with are acting and feeding completely normal and perameters are fine and have been stable since I added these fish in november. I set up this tank pretty recently(in september) and it is a hex about 35-40 gallons. the other inhabitants are a clown pleco and an old female betta. the geos are in there temporarily until I set something up for them. onr of the other geos also seems to be developing these eye bumps too but are currently only a small amount of white coloration on the top of the eye. I have never seen this before and Im wondering what it is. any help is appreciated

oh by the why I dont have any pictures of it and I dont think I could get a good pic of it but I will try

allright here are some pictures I they are terrible but best ones I could get
its pretty hard to see

Eye Shadow-itous?! J/K, the pic isn't detailed enough for anyone to make an ACCURATE guess. Try google and if no luck then just go to petsmart or a LFS and look at all their meds. Just read what they treat and experiment.

Sorry I couldn't really help.:( I hope it goes away soon!:)

My dicrozoster's have got what you describe before. It is difficult to tell from the pictures but does it look like a "callus" on the top of the eye?
They have got it a couple times now and it has always gone away. I think it may be from digging around in the gravel and maybe scraping it or something.

Burt:)

thanks guys and it does look like a callous on the eye. im doing daily water changes and hopefully it will go away. thanks again

Sounds like you are taking the best action already. IMO its better to have tip top water to treat an illness rather than stressing the fish by adding loads of meds unless you can accurately tell what you are treating.

OMG THATS what my dat has, and gave to one of my Geos!!!! WHATS ITS NAME ?!?! I think its a parasite or sumthing.... Im going to try prazipro.

Its weird because your geo has the exact thing as mine... i need ot figure this out..

It does go away, but it leaves a scar, and comes right back in a diff spot!
