Hey guys,
I was interested in Geophagus altifrons:eek: and i was wondering what their tank size should be (for around 7 or 8) and what would the male to female ratio be? Thanks Any other info is accepted

just to make sure this is for their entire lives. so 135-150?

Well, I have 6 in a 135, it turns out they are three pairs and they get along, as long as everyone minds their p's and q's. I don't know how you will sex them, there are no external sex differences that I am aware of, In the book - South American Earth Eaters" they state there is no sexual dimorphism. And I can only tell if they are spawning, and then it only lasts a few days, and then I can't tell. They are housed with 3 large (10 - 11 inch) Uaru, 8 smaller jurupari and a host of somewhat fancy plecos. The Altifrons are around 8 inches now, not including very long fin extentions.

For life..... the bigger the footprint the better. If your gonna get a 150, I would jump up to a 180 just for the bigger footprint(6'x2'). Just my opinion.;)

all right 180 it is then (if you insist :) )

do you guys know if they fight amongst each other? thanks

when i was growing out my juvies in my 60g they were cool with each other. Now that there in a 240g some are starting to chase others, not fatal tho.
