Bought this 5" geophagus from a fish store for $20. It was labeled as "jurupary fish" (It is certainly not satanoperca jurupari) I'm think G. Altifrons Tocantins. Suggestions? IMG_1701[1].JPGIMG_1702[1].JPGIMG_1703[1].JPGIMG_1704[1].JPG

It's too washed out to know. It doesn't appear to have a midlateral spot or a preopercular mark, which would indicate altifrons, but the markings may just be faded due to stress. If it colors up once it settles in, take some new pictures.

Hell no, it's not satanoperca of any kind I know that for sure.

Yeah you're right i was thinking of red head Tapajos when u said altifrons lol 😴. Although it's eyes look a little high up and far from its mouth but idk I'm no expert when it comes to geos lol. Nice fish Btws I like its long face reminds me of my friends S. daemons

It's hard to say. It does have a head/mouth more like Satanoperca. Part of me wants to suggest S. daemon based on the shape, the red in the lower half of the tail, etc. but then it's missing the black blotches on the body. Even stressed Satanoperca usually show some markings.
