Hi,

I have a spare 50g tank and i wanted to put a geophagus biotope comm.
I am thinking of getting a surinamensis or a red head tapajos. Which is better?
I also wanted to put some lemon tetra's in there any idea how many?

Thanks a lot.

Looks like you've had some inspiration.

I personally wouldn't keep any Geophagus in that sized tank, most definitely not surinamensis (or brachybranchus or whatever species it is that is mislabled). Orange Heads will do alright in a small shoal of 4 with 2M 2F or 1M 3F.

wow japes answered me. i never thought you will answer my question. Well your collection inspire me to build one.. i like the style of your biotope.. i wish i could mimic yours but since i only have a 50g spare tank. i am thinking which of the geo fish i can put in there..

right now the tank already have fine white sand and a couple of petrified rocks.. i will be putting driftwood later..

thanks for the reply

3-5 red heads with atleast 6 lemons would be fine, 8 or 10 would be better

Thanks bbortko. Right now it has 3x 2" red head tapajos 1x surinamensis and 2 lemon tetra will buy more. I guess i need to dispatch the surinamensis though..

Well, it's an altifrons, which will tip 12" TL if it's a male, so definitely not suitable for that size tank.

Hi japes what is the altifrons? The big one? these are the smaller ones if you can id them to make sure it is red head tapajos.
