Anybody keeping these? Photos of adults?

The LFS has some, and I am considering getting some. They are a bit spendy at $20 for 1" captive bred juveniles, but I have been looking for them for a while. I would love to hear people's experience with these fish before I take the plunge.

Dan,

Saw those too. I want to give them a try too, but SPENDY!

Cool geo if you're looking for something different. This is the only known CA geo species. Most aggressive geo I've ever kept. Kept a small colony in a 240, gave them plenty of visual breaks, and still had alot of fighting between males.

I want to see a picture!

Me, too!

Yeah, and I would definitely want a male, so I would have to buy at least 3 or 4.

Were they only aggressive with conspecifics? I was hoping they would go in my 210 Eartheater community. Do you think a male crassilabris would fight with my male steindachneri (they are fairly similar looking)?

I googled images of them, & they seem like ugly ducklings of the Geo world :-/
comparatively speaking.

I don't care for their shape (the big, downturned mouth looks odd to me) but they have beautiful colors. I feel similarly about pellegrini. It'd be nice if you could put those colors on a fish with the shape of an altifrons.

They are best kept as a harem, 1 male to 3 or 4 females. With just a pair, you might end up with just the male. All the red hump group are very similar, and although I have never tried to keep any of the species of the red hump group together, I'd be worried the males would not get along, and try to kill each other.
I have found them to be some of the most entertaining of the Geos, their spawning rituals are almost humorous, and very exaggerated.
I kept 5 in a 150 gal cichlid community(most of the others were much larger), until 1 male killed the other and ended up with 1 male and 3 females.
Sorry no pics.
