Nice pick up Colton! Agreed on the Geophagus steindachneri ID. Technically there may have spawned already (looks like you have 1 male and 3 females to me but I didn't finish the vid TBH) but they do not pair off. They are harem breeders meaning one male will spawn with multiple females and you want it that way. Having the additional females in the harem will help spread around his "excitement" amongst a few other females instead of targeting just one.
Awesome!!! Within 15 min of being in the tank the male and one of the females spawned.
haha congrats! I've had same day spawns after being introduced to the tank but nothing close to 10 minutes, nice!!! Steiny's are REALLY prolific breeders so they will likely being spawning like crazy for you. I've been missing keep any of the hump species. I just put an order in for Geophagus crassilabris to get back in the game.
Males are larger, more colorul and have a much more pronounced nuchal hump.
