Hi guys,

This little fella was sold to me a month ago as a Geo Tapajos with two others (which are definitely Tapajos). However, I am not so sure now as his tail fin and dorsal fin seems to have more spots than stripes and also he seems to have sorta irredescent vertical stripes across his body.

Any ideas?

By Tapajos did you mean sp. "Red Head Tapajos"? It does look like a red head to me but just hasnt colored up much yet. I'd say just be patient and see. How big is it?

they could be just stress bars since its been moved and in a new tank etc.(It's the right fish by the way.)

I've had the fish about a month and it doesn't seem stressed, it is about 3" but doesn't seem as colourful as the other two who are definitely a male and female (as they laid eggs).

BTW, Sorry yes I do mean Geophagus sp. "Redhead Tapojos" was just shortening the name for time!

Now worries Sunshine, but there are two other Tapajos geo's besides the orangeheads... I think that's why people were confused.

To be sure, it's one of the altifrons complex (which Tapajo's and orange heads belong). Some might consider them geographic variations of sp. altifrons.
