Geophagus lips not contracting

I noticed my new geo's lips don't contract all the way back in, like there's still some stretched tissue. Will this negatively affect him and will it return to normal? He was fine when I put him in then I notice this now 2 hrs later. Any help would be great.

If it was a Datnoid or leaf fish, it dies shortly after. I dont know about Geo Sp.

nope. swims around fine. not messing with the subsrtate though like other geo's I've kept have.
