I have 4 neambi and 2 psittacus hoplarchus in in my 72x30x25. Trying to decide how to fill out the rest of the stock. Another group of 4 geos is one idea, wet spot has argyrostitcus. Would they be too aggressive for the neambi? A group of leporinis nijseeni is another possibility. Anyone have a combo that worked great or terribly?

What size is 72x30x25? It sounds like you are going have a beautiful tank when you are done :)

Wow!! Your tank is beautiful, I want to do something like that with my two tanks, how do you get that background like that?

I would say when the hoplarchus grow your stocked. I definitely would not add more cichlids .
Maybe a top water fish like pink tailed chalceus or something.
it’s going to be a nice tank as is though.

The psittacus are around 9 years old and one is really showing its age.

I’ve just looked at your tank shot again, I never noticed the fish the fist time I looked( sat in the sun too many reflections on my phone screen)
I do think a top water fish like pike characin or something similar would be nice.

Its a 3d background from universal rocks, basically a little silicone and water pressure hold it in place

I agree with more top water , I’m thinking on trying the arygrostictus and maybe some rainbows or denison barbs down the line.

I agree about adding a large shoal of appropriately sized, mid, to upper water level swimming, geographically correct dither fish.
Is that the thin style background? It really looks great
I had the thick style background, and found it took up too much space in the tank.
