Pretty happy to catch them in action. It's not easy because they are immediate mouth brooders.

The last time they bred was two months ago when three females held, and one did it successfully for 3 weeks before she let the fry out. They are almost 1" now and you can see them toward the end of the video.

This is the second female to spawn this time. The first one was taken out into her own tank 2 days ago when I found out that she was holding.

Believe me I know what you mean, you ever thought about trying Ocean Nutrition instant bb or decapsulated bb.

I have those and golden pearl too. The fry were with the female in the nursery for a month, and the female would herd them to eat when I dumped live bbs in the tank, which was fun to see. I guess I just stuck with it. They are now big enough to eat frozen stuff and crushed flakes.

Oh I see I would probably enjoy that myself.:)

Good luck on a good spawn. They are an amazing fish. Definitely would be something I love to have. But can not have everything in life.

That's pretty cool....mouthbrooding SA/CAs are totally new to me

Speaking of "love to have" , is there ANYWHERE in our area that still has anything besides run-of-the-mill basic cichlids or what? Our selection of cichlids in SE PA is a joke, man. You buy your stuff online or do you have a secret store you go to that I don't know about ? lol I want Mayans, gonna try to get some to go Brackish for my Moray tank
