Geophagus pellegrini

I know somebody who has these as a breeding project I am fairly sure they are pellegrini but would like other peoples thoughts, I am not experienced on geophagus

Yes they are. I spawned them a few times and have fry growing. Definitely the right fish

they look so similar to the Redhumps.....are they found in locales close to each other in the wild?

As others have already mentioned this is pellegrini. Jump on it if you're able to!

Red humps are red, pellegrini are yellow (which is why they're called 'yellow humps' by some people) and that's pretty apparent in the photos. Only thing confusing, really, is for years, when real pellegrini were rare, steinies were sometimes being sold as pellegrini.
