I have a 5 of these fish growing out in a 55 gallon tank and to be honest I'm not all that excited about them. Mine are extermely skidish and will bang around the tank anytime I go near it. I was hoping that over time they would come around but so far they haven't. Mine are approaching 5 inches now and are still very shy, skidish and I never see them swimming around in the tank. Anyone else have these guys?

I have G. parnaibae which I think are similar. Mine do the same thing. When I'm not in the room they're out and about, but as soon as I walk in they start crashing into driftwood and tank glass. It starts a stampede in my 150 gallon and all the other fish follow their lead. It's really annoying and frustrating because the tank is in my living room and this happens constantly when I have company over. :irked:

I grew out a small colony of Geophagus Tocantins in a 55g that didn't see much traffic. at 4-5" they became skidish. Put them in my 240g and now they are fine.

Larger tank footprint and more visable traffic made my geos less skidish

I moved mine yesterday into a 90 gallon tank with some Urau and they do seem less skiddish already. I'm hoping with this tank being slightly out of the way these fish will finally settle down some.

I think they take awhile to get used to human traffic.
