I bought this G. Tapajos on Saturday and over the past couple of days he has developed what looks like a scrape on his head. Today it looks worse. Does anyone know what this is? There was an aggressive Sajica in the tank which was dive bombing the geos but I removed him from the tank on Monday. Do you think he has scraped his head or been hurt by the Sajica or does it look like a disease of some sort?

looks like a case of HITH hole in the head.. whats this Geo eating? Also what is the PH? prolly too low!

pH is 6.8 - just right as far as I am aware for S Americans. Bear in mind I only got him on Saturday so he probably had it before he got into my tank! My parameters are spot on. Nitrates 0 or close to 0, Ammonia 0, pH 6.8, soft to medium hardness and temp 28. He is eating a mixture of all sorts, tetra prima, frozen brine shrimp, live brine shrimp, cichlid mix, cichlid pellets. It doesnt look like craters though - its like he has scraped his head against something. He seems really well in himself, swimming around loads, eating etc. I am really worried now as I dont want the rest of my fish to get this!!! I have about £200 worth of fish in my tank!

Yeah, I spoke to the LFS I bought them from and showed them the pics and they said it looked like HITH. They offered to take it back and treat it for me but now I have to treat the whole tank anyway. I sincerely hope I my stock doesnt get infected. I have an EBJD who has been doing really well along with a very expensive Rotkeil. As I am in UK I cant get Metro but I am gonna treat with ESHA Hexamita tomorrow (cannot do it now cause yesterday added ick treatment because all my fish got ick from the fish I added from this LFS too!!!). I have added carbon back in and treat with ESHA tomorrow. Ii have already added salt today 50% and will add the other 50% tomorrow. I am so angry that both these diseases came form the same LFS. My tank was fine until then, now I have ick and HITH. FFS!!!!!

geos are prone to HITH, so get used to it. raise the temp to 82, your ebjd is not at risk for hith

My temp is and always has been at 82 (28ºC) so I don't need to make any adjustments there. How long will it take to start noticing a difference? The ESHA Hexamita is a 3 day course. Should I repeat it again after the 3 days?
