The growth rate of different species within this Genus will vary... A general statement could be made that Geophaguses grow much slower than the fast growing large SA/CA Cichlids... A general statement could be made that fish with a larger adult size will typically grower faster than a fish with a smaller acult size... But we have to remember general statements overlook any/all detail and can often be misleading...

My Geophagus seem to be the slowest growers, while my Satanopercas and Acarichthys' seem to be quicker. Also, they will really sprout the first few inches, and then it's going to slow down from there..
