Evening Gentlemen.

Just picked up a breeding group of wild Geophagus SP "Aereos" (as far as we know, a sub species of altifrons).

2 Males and 3 females. All in a Q tank waiting to go into the 100 at the end of the month.

Just been fighting it out with my Sevs, but its all calm now and they've just taken their first feed of bloodworm, if a little tentatively.

Heres some pics from the previous, previous owner. (props to richard longley for the photos, i cant take the credit, but i can take his fish :))

Any tips and tricks with these guys? Any help, pointers etc, would be greatly appreciated.

Fantastic Geos! Nice pick up

Beautiful fish. Just for clarification, Aereos or Areos is an alternate name for the Rio Tocantins variety of Geophagus altifrons (Generally referred to as Geophagus altifrons 'Rio Tocantins')

Shot of mine to show the complete similarity.

I've got find Altrifons myself in a 90. Yours are great looking, mine don't has as intense color as yours as mine are tank raised. Great fish.

Evening Gentlemen. I'm suffering from a night on the town last night, so i've had a lazy evening with my parents... and my tank.

I know that aereos / areos is just another name for Geophagus altifrons 'Rio Tocantins' (infact Japes, from you a few months ago :)) but im a lazy, lazy man when it comes to typing.

Either way

Gave the tank a clean and got some of my own pics of the new geos. Settling in nicely. These things are real dustbins when it comes to food. Settled in nicely with the Sevs, few chases but nothing much. Little bit of internal fighting between the group too, all to be expected.

Here's the new pics (no where near as good as the previous owners, but I'm still learning eh?)

Enjoy.

All depends how and what you want mate.

Best bet is to keep an eye out at your LFS. But if you want them wild/rare and now, and dont mind paying a little bit more. when http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/ will most likely have what your looking for.

Failing that, have a searching in the buy/sell section a little further down.

AND Failing that, try making a thread (buttons at the top right hand side of the page when viewing a specific board (ie arowanas, SA/CA cichlids) and seeing if anyone knows of any in your area.

Best of luck with it, the rotkeils are stunning fish.

Welcome to MFK, nice to have another Sev head on board.
