here is one of my juvie 2.5-3" red heads that i love the most because of the scales. hopefully he/she will grow up with a red head. I got he/she from jeff rapps around sept. and is housed in a 30g but moving in to 75g this weekend.

How convenient. I have a 75 gallon that he would look great in. :j/k: But really, nice fish. I like the scaling as well. I would think it would start showing color already though. I have a 2" male that has a really red head already.

well this one has some red at times..not my dominant male tho...my dominant male is so hard to take a picture of him because he goes and hide everytime i bring the camera up to the tank..pretty clever i think..lol...i have about 4 in my tank and this one has the best body but hopefully it gets some red after a few more months:(

If you keep them with light substrate they color up sooner I dont know why I moved a group from a tank with black sand to what they went from showing almost no red to full color in a few days

Yeah i was planning on getting some tan-ish color sand or just white sand to bring out the color alilo more...my dominant male is the only one that has the red head the others has some red color but it doesnt show as much

The light colored substrate will help. I have 8 of these fish and the smallest is 1" and the largest is 2" (TL) and all are displaying colors well. I am not trying to highjack your thread with my pics, just thought I would add a couple so you can see the difference. ;)

Pics are high res, click to zoom in.
