right now i have white sand in my geophagus tank. i want to switch it with a more natural colored gravel, will these be okay for my geophagus?

geophagus are sand sifters. they would appreciate it greatly if you keep the sand substrate. i just changed from pea pebble to silica sand just a few weeks ago just to please my geos :). however it is still your prerogative as to what is it you want. ime, i have seen my geo stuck a pebble in its mouth and it was an ugly sight.

I had 120#s pfs in my 125 and needed another 30#s but since I've been working 60 hrs/wk I didn't want to go to the store so I added 30#s of quikrete play sand that I already had and it looks great. When I first got the tapajos I had, my tank had 3mm gravel and they had no problems softing it but they definitely prefered sand.

I have had peach head tapajos for years with black gravel with no issues. I could see where they would prefer sand though but the gravel will not hurt them.
