Work carries me around the world, but I've finally been back long enough to indulge in some window shopping :) and I've got two deals on the table.

One is for 6 x Geophagus sp "Altifrons Aereos"

and the

other is for 6 x Geophagus sp "tapajos orange head"

so heres the question... Should we start a geo league?:naughty:

No, in all seriousness, whats every ones opinion? They'll be living in a 125 Gal with 2 adult severums.

Which should i go for?

On top of this, do i have the space? Anything special i need to know about there care?

Any help is greatly appreciated as always

What's the tank footprint? If it's a 4x2x2 125 I'd go for the Orange Heads, but to be honest I think they're quite an uninteresting Eartheater and I'm actually looking at selling mine to replace them for something else.

My altifrons (areos, whatever) on the other hand is vibrant and much more personable and less skittish. I've got 3 Orange Heads and he's got more personality than them all combined!

Edit: No Geo league, thanks!

I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. Ha, really doesn't help you to make a decision, but both are beautiful and interesting fish.

If your looking for max size then go with the altifrons. They will max out around 8-10".

Yeah, tanks a 4x2x2.

Still stuck in limbo lol, even after the geo masters have spoken :)

Sure i cant tempt anyone into a pointless thread/race/league? :D

Gonna see if i cant visit with the breeder of the red heads, see if i cant make my mind up in person.

Seems i've tapped into the seedy underground world of UK geophagus, and im loving it :)

Get them both and thin out the ones you least like when they get bigger. :P

I just got some tapajos and I love them so far. They are still small but I have seen the parents and they are beautiful. However I think you would enjoy either fish equally.

I'd get the altifrons. They are much tougher and I think prettier fish. They are less skittish and can hang with more aggressive fish much easier. The problem is that a 4ft tank will not be big enough for 6 of them and 2 adult sevs in the long run. With that said altifrons are pretty slow growers so you will probably have 2+ years before you would need to do something. You would probably want to thin down to one pair when they start getting much over 7"

Hi there... Well I have a 4x2x2 with 6 orangeheads and 6 angels and love it. My orangeheads are not skittish at all. They were 1 1/2 inch when I got them from Ed Burress and put them in with dime sized angels... Now the largest orangehead is about 4 1./2 inches and the largest angel's body about silver dollar size or larger.. They definitely have personality.. I think that you need a group of six rather than just 3 to see better behavior from them.... mine are like little puppy dogs constantly begging for food.. It's a real feeding frenzy in there and the orangeheads are not at all timid about pushing the angels out of the way.. LOL.. For your sized tank, I think they would probably be a better fit than the larger altifrons, tho both are beautiful fish.. How large are the sevs?? As I'm sure you are aware, as the sevs reach maturity, if they are 2 males you might not be able to keep both.. Sevs seem to have very unique personalities and I had to rehome one that I had planned to keep in my tank.. Good luck with your tank and pics please.. Sue:D

Totally down for a geophagus league!
