Just wondering if I could get a little better understanding of these fish. I was checking some out at an lfs but they were all small. I would just like to know some tankmates that work and if anyone could post some adult pics it would be greatly appreciated.

I've had geophagus sp rio tapajos and they were a little aggressive but harmless. I picked up some geopagus iporangensis 10 days ago, still in quarantine but they seem to be similar conspecific wise. Never had a problem with the tapajos and my ebjd, my nic would try to bully them(as he does everyone) but they stood their ground and nothing physical ever came about. I would aim for less aggressive friends such as severum, nic, ebjd, festivum, kribs, etc.

They would be going into my 180, although could possibly go into my 150 as well. The 180 has retic's on the bottom and tinfoil barbs. Are the barbs too fast moving for the geos? I believe the lfs had peligrini, balzini and a few others. I was considering the geo's and sev mix and the lfs also has nic and a synspillum (sp?)

The tinfoils are to big to be eaten and will most likely ignored, my geos couldn't care less about my sd. I've read that pellegrini males shouldn't be kept with other pellegrini males. Balzani are gymnos and from what I've read need colder water, though changing the temps may be an attempt to mimic the seasons to induce breeding. The nic should be ok. Never heard of syns being kept with geos, but if I were to try it I'd consider altifrons.

I can never remember any sites, always wind up relying on google or the search for mfk.

Thanks for ID Justin!
