Geophagus Steindachneri Questions

I'm interested in getting a geo steindachneri eartheater. I've read that the males can be very aggressive to other male steins, but are they aggressive to other fish too? I have a South American community tank with a 3" red severum, a 3" green scat, a 9" silver aro and a 5-6" ocell pbass.

Also, the ones at the LFS are still small -- about 2". How can I tell which ones are male at that size? They all appear to have a slight red hump to me.

Do I need to keep a female in the tank for the red hump to appear on the male steindachneri?

i would say no for the hump cause i have a male convict that has a hump on its head an he is in a tank without females but im not up on eartheaters an e'as an convicts are different.

no females needed, for steinys all you need is a group in a tank with a good footprint, nuetral to soft water, and lots of sand
