Hi

i have 4 Geophagus steindachneri also Neolamprologus buescheri, i had a group of Rummynose Tetra but have been loosing them slowly. Would the Geophagus be eating them?

Neither of your cichlids are piscivores, the Neolamprologus eats insect larvae and invertebrates in nature, and the Geophagus is an omnivore, eating mostly invertebrates it sifts in the substrate, and vegetable matter. That said if the tetras are small enough (bite size) and the tank is small enough the tetras don't have escape room, no cichlid will turn down an easily caught, high protein meal.
No other fish in the tank?
Do you have soft or hard water?
How often do you do water changes?

I agree with duanes, not particularly likely, although I have kept steindachneri and found them to be more pushy than most Geos, wouldn't put it past one to sneak a tetra. Basically, any cichlid will eat any fish that can fit in it's mouth. So it's possible. I think duanes' followup questions would provide a bit more input. What size tank are we talking?

I have 2 African butterfly fish. My tank is 5ft. Also have 6 angles but are small.

African Butterfly also are capable of catching fish at the surface. Personally witnessed this with a Hatchet fish caught by a African Butterfly. The Hatchet was released due to its size.
