This guy is in a 210 gallon aquarium with Vieja Argentea (2), Bifasciatus (4), and Zonatums (4). There is also 4 baby Umbies not shown. Along with several Plecos. Shown is the Flash Pleco.

Very nice Geo. The correct species is Geophagus dicrozoster. Most LFS sell Geophagus species as G. surinamensis that are part of once was the "surinamensis complex" because the LFS does not know how to properly ID them.. Nothing is coming out of Suriname these days and true Geophagus surinamensis are spread in small numbers throughout Europe for the most part and rare in the hobby.

The way you can tell what species you have is a large midlateral spot (black spot on the side of the flanks(that rules out G. altifrons varients) and the preoperculer mark (black smudge on the cheek) which rules out other species such as G. abalios. Just thought I would share :)
