Hi today I saw orange eggs on a rock and my geophagus are protecting them!
I need some advice for raising the young....
I have bred fish like kribensis and green terrors but geophagus are different.
Basically can I get some experienced advice?
Pics are below.
Any advice would help.

They will pick up the wrigglers once they hatch and mouthbrood them. Depending on how comfortable they are in their current tank, they may or may not release the fry when it's time. My G. parnaibae never feel comfortable enough to release in the community tank because it's so active and they end up just eating the fry unless I strip them. If it's their first spawn, I'd just wait and see how it goes. Letting them guard a few batches will help the pair bond.

Once they pick up the wrigglers, you should see one or both parents constantly chewing like they have a mouthful of sand. They'll do this for a week or so before you see any fry. If they feel comfortable, they'll release them to let the fry graze and eat.

Be aware that if you have any nocturnal fish, or any kind of pleco, it may eat the eggs. I usually try to avoid plecos in tanks with substrate spawners.

I have three breeding pairs of Taps. Pretty much how Ryan discribed it. If they are in there own tank let them raise the fry for a month befor moving them into a grow out tank. If this is a community tank the fry might not last so moving the fry and growing them out on your own might be the best option if you want them to survive. The good news is the parents will breed again in a month so either way you'll have more. Mine are like rabbits and there is a constant supply of fry. Feed the fry frist bites or I pulverize NLS in morter and pestal and use that. As the fry grow the offerings can get larger, you said you raised fry before so it's pretty much the same thing. GL if you have any specific questions we didn't cover please ask.

PS if you have corys in the tank they will pick the fry off in no time.

Attached are some pics with fry.
