Geophagus with Cichla?

Does anyone have any experience with these two together in a 8x4x2, 450 gallon? I imagine larger geos like altifrons would be fine. Has anyone done juraparis?

I have brasiliensis with mine. No problems yet. Hes been there long before the bass though

My plan is to grow the geos out before getting the bass. I'm glad to hear this worked for you. How large is the brasiliensis?

6-7". Bass are 12-13"

Any large sized geo or Satanoperca should be fine. However, most earth eaters are super slow growers, especially compared to bass growth rates. You will either need to buy large adults (expensive and difficult to find) or grow out some juvies (very time consuming). But adults of either genus should get along fine with bass.

Thanks for the insight. I'm in no hurry on the bass and will pick up a trio of 3"-4"jurapari this week.

^^^^Altifrons or winnamilleri will do much better. I have done the combo and they were far less timid than th satno. Colors and streamers of alitfrons and wins are much better as well.
