I am setting up a 180g polypterus tank. Several members recommended that I add geophagus for tank mates. I know they sift through the sand a lot. Will this be a problem with my few plants and is it enought to annoy the polypterus? Also I am going to probably add two Uarus so can I add two to three Geophagus in this tank? Also what sp. do people recommend. I am going for color and am a fan of the forehead hump.

Thanks

my favorite is the surinamensis; but for more lump, you could get the steindachneri or pelligrini

As far as temperment, poly's, uaru's and geo's should be fine together. As far as space, I guess it depends on how many of each you are getting; (surinamnesis get fairly large, stein's and pell.s are smaller species) as far as plants, most geos don't really dig too deep, so they don't really dig up plants. A big pleco would be harder on plants, and my baby uaru's are constantly chewing on my plants...

I got a steiney today and it has an awesome red hump, daemons and heckeliis have great color.

I like the Tapajos Orange Head and Heckelii.
You can use plants growing on driftwood and rocks, like Microsorium and Anubia.
