I currently have raphael cats as my clean up crew for my poly tanks. Lately ive been wanting a more active clean up crew and thought of using a geo for each tank. Will they sift through the sand eating the bits and pieces shaken loose or will they end up being the first at the dinner table?

no fish is a clean up crew. only adding to the waste.

crayfish are one of the exceptions. not in terms of "cleaning" but they get rid of feeder remains that would otherwise rott in corners of the tank. i used to have a small gang of them as a "bottom filter" for my feeder tank. after catching a couple hundred feeder guppies, the weaker ones would sink to the bottom and the crays (already caught from the same stream) would save me the trouble of netting out the bodies or pulling them off the filter. made the quarantine periods much more enjoyable.

^+1 If there was a fish that was a "tank cleaner" everyone would have one.

Im not looking for a fish that will eat other fishes' crap, im looking for a fish that will eat the scraps left behind by polys eating. The scraps are still quality fish food, just in smaller pieces than the polys would eat.
Crayfish would end up being food when they molt.

Geos work great for me. I have three Geo. Altifrons. In a 135g with 4endlis, a lap, 3 sens and FL gar. No problems at all in fact two of the geos paired up and spawned the other night.
