My female laid eggs for the first time and there were about 200-300 but now theres only about 15. My mom says she saw them eating the eggs.
Will they do this every time they spawn?

Some will learn to be good parents, some will not. My Kribs didn't learn after three spawnings, so I traded them in. My Nics were very good parents the first time. So much so they are defending 2/3 of the tank, a problem I am considering how to deal with.

My pair has spawned twice and both times eaten the eggs. The first time the eggs lastest a day or so. The 2nd spawn, they lasted 3 days. I have a strong feeling this next time they will hatch into wrigglers, and then be eaten. Then the next time they'll get to freeswimming, etc. I think MOST fish (there are exceptions, of course) learn as they mature.

Thanks for you replies :). The parents are separated from the eggs completely now.
But after researching them I found they usually will not eat the fry, just the eggs. But I'm not sure.

Should I move them to a bucket, or leave them on 1/3 of the tank with a divider, with holes they can probably swim through anyway.

I think I would just keep letting them breed until they figure it out.

German blue ram Cichlids---- Stunning fish I love them, I have 5 but I think mine are all males... Everything I read on these fish was they are not so easy to breed...
Are they alone in the take? I would take the pair out and put them in a 10 gallon with little sand on the bottom and a smal clay planr pot for a cave... They might be eatting there egg because they are stressed...

Find the thread that's titled "German Blue Ram Breeding "Journal" " and check the very last page. Apistomaster gave me some very very good advice and insight from someone who has bred them many times over.

no the first couple of times they get it wrong normally it can take up to about 3 tries for them to get it right, they could all be ready to hatch but they will still eat them.
