Hey everyone so I have a pair of german blue rams. They are new parents. First time breeding. Fry have been free swimming for 3 days now. They have trouble swimming still. Parents have to help them around. And up untill this morning the parents have been caring for them very well. But I noticed today that they are just not giving a crap about the babys. Normally they keep the fry all together in one area and when the fry swim up to high or towards the filter they put them in their mouth and bring them back down under a clay pot. But now the parents arent even watching them very much and the fry are scattered around the tank in the sand. And yesterday there was probably 60-80 fry and today I see around 20. I'm quite confused. The parents were doing so good. Whats wrong? What should I do with the remaining fry. Im assuming they wont make it without the care of the parents. They can barely swim on their own. Please help!

Separate them before you lose the batch. Check the filter for any that got sucked up, if they aren't there - the parents or other tankmates are eating them. Set up a grow out tank with a sponge filter and try to save the rest.

Baby rams can take care of themselves if you feed them. U can remove the parent if you afraid they will eat their babies. Do not remove babies if possible unless you want to drawn same water to keep them.
