German Blue Ram Update

Ok so the a few weeks ago I got a nice little pair of GBRs for my 55 gallon community tank. I posted a thread with pictures of them and asking a few questions about them. Since then I have been loading them with frozen bloodworms, brineshrimp, and mysis shrimp. I was a little concerned when the feamles colors were really plain but the last two days her colors have really began to show. The male is constantly following her and I think they are starting to form a bond. I plan to get another pair in a few weeks also! Here are some more pictures I would like to share. I will probably keep updating this thread with pictures as they grow, and when I buy my other pair.

Good looking rams! They are coloring up nicely.. I have a pair myself and they are fun little fish.. Mine spawned in the tank within the first week of putting them together. Give them a flat rock of some sort in there and I'm sure thats where the eggs will end up. Also, I noticed my rams colored up even better when I bumped the tank temp to about 84 degrees.. Depending on what they are stocked with, you may want to try that.. Good luck!

Thanks! Mine have a few other tankmates so I dont want to get it that high, but Im happy with how they are progressing. I have quite a few rocks places throughout the bottom of the wisteria "jungle" I have in my tank as well as the dwarf chain sword "valley", so hopefully they will be fine with those.

Haha I like how I make landmarks out of the plants and rocks in my tank...

good luck! not everyone gets them to spawn, they def are no convicts. looks like they def have something going on seeing both of them in a bunch of the pictures.

Peathenster- are you the one I spoke about my female being a gold/blue hybrid? Do you still think she is now that her colors have come out? Im seeing less gold and more blue thats for sure.

A little update: I saw some GREAT pairing behavior during this mornings feeding. I put the shrimp in the tank and everyone came to get breakfast including the rams, but they would keep seperating from the food and start displaying to each other. That poor male is working so hard to impress the girl. He is constantly following her and displaying, but she usually just goes on her merry way. So Im gald we had a little break through with her today.

I second that. My two pairs constantly fought, one pair only gave the other pair 1/5 of the tank to use, if they jumped the border they got quickly deported. Competition is like a turn on for them too, gets them to breed more.
