Ive been thinking about adding a few German Ram Cichlids to my 55 gallon community tank. Can you keep more than one male Ram with out having them fight all time or do I have to keep only pairs male/female? Any feed back from people that have kept them before would be helpfull. Thanks

A 55 should be plenty of room for them to stay out of each others way. I have 3 now and have had as many as 6. They are no worse than other cichlids. Somtimes they are bestest buddies, other times they can't stand each other. I have no idea what sex mine are and every attempt I have made to figure it out just confuses the hell out of me!!

Two males should be fine. But if you have two males and a female and a pair forms the second male may be murdered.

everything i read says two females per male. more females is better

i have 4 german blues and one electric blue in my 55 community. i started out with a male and female german blue and then added another pair some time later. It took a couple months but the new male and female beat the hell out of the older pair. The old male eventually died and the old female still is alive but likes to stay out of the way. The electric blue doesnt seem to be bothered by them too much. Just buy a group of smaller ones and let them grow out together, they should be ok.
