the rock...671!!!
came home today to find my 6in. pbass with a 4in. gt in its mouth, head first!!! tried to get the pbass to release the gt by harassing him with the net, but it didn't work. so i took them both out and tried to gently manuever the gt out of the pbass's mouth. eventually had to slide a bbq stick into the mouth of the pbass to lower the dorsal fin down and slide the gt out. it worked. the gt is fine, but my pbass is having trouble closing his mouth. they are now in seperate tanks. the gt is almost as thick as the pbass, so i never even considered the pbass would try it. lesson learned...never underestimate how large a pbass mouth can open.

Did you take any pictures before you took him out?

Yeah have you taken a pix? Though, i suppose when you saw your gt (whatever that is ...sorry not quite used all acronyms yet) inside pbass's mouth, photo may not have been on his first things to do list.

Personally, i would not have tried to remove gt (unless it is very expensive fish). You endanger both fish imo. I let my RTC eat the paima ... photo proof is in the lesson learned section ^^

yeah, i didn't even think about taking a pic until after. i'm pretty sure the pbass was trying to eject the gt on his own, since he was lying on his side. i don't think he could have swallowed him because the they are almost the same width. only the first couple of spines from the gt's dorsal fin made it into the mouth (which was why he could spit him back out) thankfully they afre both ok.

Good to hear ^^ now the pic of the trashed GT should be forthcoming lol - survivor from the closer encounter heheheh

Im worried because I just finished setting up my 75g and Im waiting for my levels to be good so I can get my 4'' lmb in there but Im afraid of what I will find when I get home from work even though I plan of adding ciclids of compatable size
