I have a 75 gal tank with Malawi cichlids and a 6.5" Ornate bichir, and a 20 gallon with guppies and a tiny 4" Senegal bichir (doubling as a growout tank for him, he's doing fantastic), and the ornate seems a bit too shy compared to the senegal.

The senegal rushes to the surface of the water when its feeding time, and is out and about during the daytime, while we are around, and isn't shy at all. The Ornate, however, loves to hide most of the time and the only time we see him is when he is moving from one hiding spot to another. I haven't seen him eat, but when I leave a beefheart cube/live feeder fish in the tank during the middle of the night, I check back a few hours later and its gone, so he is probably eating enough. Is this something I can help him grow out of, or he forever going to be shy? I got both bichirs at the same time a month ago, the senegal was an inch shorter and the Ornate was about the same size. If you could help me out, that'd be great!

Btw Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates are all at 0, if that is relevant. Below are some pics of the 75 gal! Most of the 13 cichlids and the bichir (of course) are hiding.
