ok so well all live together my brother my mom and my dad, but the only time we see eachother is on the weekends. and im trying to get my mom involved in fish. as i plan on taking some extended time away.
well the best way to do that is to give her a tank. ive taken her to the LFS and had her look around but ppl who dont know about fish make bad choices, like saying oh lets put this yellow one in with the blue ones... you mean the yellow lab in with the neons, AH NO?
i have a 10G that i have redone about 10 times now, and i have always had a algea problem with it, that damm red/brown algea. and it actully started in that tank and spread to my other ones. any whoo.... i nuked it and its getting started over.
this is what it looked like.
then i went out and bought a gallon of bleach, i scooped all of the sand out and took all of the water out too... then i dumpped in about 1.5l of bleach into the tank to kill any spored that might be learking, placing all of the equiplen into it. then i cleaned off the filter and ran it for about 3 hours untill any remaining algea was white. the tater turned a funny colour...
then i washed it out and rinsed it. once it was clean i windexed it and washed it again. then filled it and added graval.
and 5 drops of ammonia since all of the god bacteria is now dead...
