hello, does anyone have anytips on how to get 2 coatz to pair off? male is about 10 inches female 12. in a 150g. everytime i put them together the female beats the crap out of the male. would putting them in a brand new to them tank at the same time have any effect? what would the best dithers be, rainbow cichlids?
thanks

I found this species aggressive and I think you will have trouble forcing a pairing.
If they won't except each other, I doubt a new tank will make any difference. Your best bet is to start again with a group of juvies. I wouldn't attempt it in less than 200gallons.
You could try them divided for a while but I very much doubt you will get them to play nice.

Agree with Stanzzzz7, just because you have a male and female, doesn't mean they will pair off.
Cichlid have specific rituals they go thru to determine whether they are compatible, or not.
You'd be better off finding another 3 or more females, and let them sort it out among themselves.
