Hey all..! :)

I will be getting 1.2 Potamotrygon castexi “Dark Otorongo” in the near future.. But im still not what their max size is..? Some say 60 cm and others 80 cm.. Anyone..? They will get a 2,5 m x 4 m (13 x 8 foot) pond, so there will be plenty of space.. They will be 20-30 cm when I get them.. My plan is to feed em with earthworms (we don’t have live blackworms in Denmark).. Will they accept them or are they very picky..?
These are the last two questions I have left.. :)

Hope one of you have some answers.. :)

Kind regards Anders.

well feeding them shrimp, smelts etc.... would be better also they get over a 60cm disk so 80cm is a better guess witch would be about a 31" disk....

The breeders I got from Dave Webber were over 36" disk size only with tail they could have been an easy 50" plus. Otorango/Castexi get very big and are also very aggressive eaters. There a hardy ray and will breed with ease once there mature females 30" and males 22" for me. I would also get them eating shrimp and silversides mine loved them they eat alot so be prepared. We had 6 from 30-36" and they would eat 4 lbs of shrimp per day. Post some pictures when you get them.

I think you have misunderstood the earthworm thing.. :) We all know that most rays are very picky when you get em.. Will only feed em earthworms in the start, to get them feeding.. So my question is: Will they accept earthworms as their first feeders or do I need something more special, like live black worms..? Just want to make sure that I can get them eating.. I will post some pics when I get em for sure.. :)

Kinds regards..

most of my rays tiger ray included ate shrimp right from the start..... earthworms would be fine...try shrimps or krill too.... a hungry ray will eat anything....

i like otorongos they are big time aggressive eaters and eat alot as a everyone has said need a big tank

Well live ghost shrimp isn’t really an option here in Denmark.. They cost around 5 dollars pr. shrimp..!! And we cant buy live blackworms.. But do you guys think it would work with earthworms instead..?
And I was kinda wondering, what is the ghost shrimp pricing in the US..?
I have found a video on youtube where some guy is feeding his castexi with earthworms.. And it looks like he just got it.. So I guess I could work..?

As i said, we cant buy blackworms here in Denmark.. :/

Kind regards Anders..

they will work and will be fine...as I said before try offering shrimp from the start as well.... regular market shrimps and silversides.... try them too you would be surprised at the fact that rays will sometimes take thse right from the start...and ghost shrimps arround me are usually 10 for a dollar....
