This weekend, I will be picking up a 210 (7x2x2) to replace my 125 (~6x1.5x2). I will keep this updated with some pictures and all that. My only question right now is about substrate. I want to go with 3M ColorQuartz, but I'm not sure what y'all think would be the nicest-looking. My choices (as of now, am open to others) are red T-grade or tan S-grade. How do you think the red would look? If it will look good, that is my choice. I love the tan coloquartz I saw in a tank of another member, but I'd like something a little different because I don't really like to copy people. My decor will be mostly driftwood with a few river rocks, a couple fancy plants giants and some silk plants. Here is a link to see the colors (click on the "colors" tab): http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/ColorQuartz/HomePage/Products/Crystals/

Thanks.

What fish are you keeping in it? the same ones listed in your sig? If so I'd vote for something fairly dark-coloured and smooth. Very natural looking and won't cause any scrapes when the loaches, bichir and cichlids are poking around in it.

I'd go either white or black T grade. The S grade is very fine and I'd worry about it getting in the filters.

just the first 7 and the 2 jags for now. the 3M stuff should be fine for all my lazy bottom-dwellers, i'm thinking the s-grade would probably be the best as it's about the same size as sand, but heavier and won't scratch anything, but I'm not sure if the t-grade will or not, but the red comes in t and s. I was going to go with black, but I think I want something a little more natural, which is why i was thinking red or "tan". i already did gray (that's what my 125 has), but I want to do something different this time. I don't really like the almost white that is in my 55 and 20.

edit: just saw the last post. is t-grade rough or sharp at all? i don't have problems w/ sand in my filters now and since s-grade is denser than sand, I don't foresee any problems, but I could be wrong.

I decided to go with the red s-grade. It was $20 a bag. I thought they were 40 lb. each, but they turned out to be 50. If I have any questions, I'll post them here, but if not, I'll definitely make a thread in the photo lounge. My piece of driftwood I ordered came today, too :). I'm going to get another nice piece out of the river once everything thaws out.

got the tank yesterday and got it all set up today. I need to take my old 125 and change out a 55 for it tomorrow at my parents' work, so I probably won't be able to get pix for a couple more days. had to tear the stand apart to get it down the stairs, but it was worth it.
