So I am getting a GATF shipped to the house, however I work during the day, my wife will be home. Do you think that that I should come home during the day to acclimate and until then should I have my wife leave it in the box or float the bag until I get home? I do not want to lose this fish.

Thanks guys.

I have them hold it at the facility, pickup at 9(right when they open) and go in to work late...... It creates problems if something happens and you're not there, easily avoided by just handling it all yourself if possible.... IF your work likes you they'll understand :) If not pull the mud butt card?:nilly:

Should be worth it in the long run..... :)

I agree, I'd either stay home from work that day or go in late/leave early so you can be there to get him safely in the tank. I wouldn't put that on my wife to mess with.

haha thanks guys, it is being shipped from out of state. So I can;t pick it up and I think I will have to take an early lunch.

He means for you to have Fedex or UPS hold it at the nearest facility to you and then pick it up from them. I'm not entirely sure how to do that but I've heard of enough members on her doing it to know that its possible.

You can just call in and put a "hold" on it. Either and preferrably the shipper or the recipient can "hold" it. This means they acknowledge you will be picking it up, so they don't put it on truck and deliver it to your doorstep. No point in waiting till early/mid afternoon when you can be waiting when they open.

More then anything it's just less time the fish is in transit, but you also know exactly when stuff's going to happen so you're not just waiting on the delivery guy.

thanks guys, i think that I will have my wife accept the package (since it is too late to put a package on hold that is coming tomorrow) and have her just leave it alone and then I will take a long lunch and acclimate it I suppose.

I've put holds on them mid transit.

I think I'm done with advice threads..... Is it just to get reassurance that what you've decided is ok so you can justify something like not letting the fish inconvenience the day?

Good luck! Post pics.

I will post pics, I appreciate your advice, when I posted the question there was a good chance that the fish was wasn't going to be coming in until Thursday and then late in the afternoon they told me it was coming this morning so my "flexibility" on the issue diminished. Wasn't trying to waste your time or shrug off your advice.

Just got done acclimating him he is in the tank and doing well. I will post some pics, it is too sunny and I will do it when it is dark. My Forskahlii is glued to his side.
