Im new too gar, have been offered a 8" Long Nose gar!
It is fed on Shrimps and Shrimp sticks. I will feed it guppies also!
How many shrimps should i feed it every day?
Or guppies?
I will have it with some Polypterus (20-30cm)Sens, Pollis and Ornates. Will that be ok?
What is LN gars growth rate per month?
Its gonna be in a 6ft tank with the Polys!
then moved too a 250g when big enough!

should be ok with those guys, just watch them ya know, not sure on growth rates but he should eat about 4-5 guppies a day, plus a few shrimp, also use the sticks, they have added vitamins and such

ok, 4-5 guppies A DAY, wow, cant i just feed him 8-15 shrimps/stics a day while i grow some more guppies!

I REALLY need too know the growth rate!

up to 18inch in the first year. this, along with it's max size and how much each fish eats per day is very varyable, with conditions such as water quality, food quality etc. im not too sure of more conditions or how they affect the fish, so you might wanna wait for a more educated answer

You dont have to feed guppies at all...if he's eating shrimp and pellets, then go with that (it's better for the fish).

Growth rate is supposed to be quite fast, but mine didnt impress me (that goes to show that every fish is different). I would expect him to be 16-24 inches within the next year as long as it doesnt self destruct like mine did.

Longnose gar are very prone to spinal injuries...on that note i would strongly suggest you grow this fish out in a much smaller tank (maybe a 29 or 55 gallon) until he is about a foot long. If you give a baby gar too much room to run, they will likely injure themselves. Mine managed to break it's back in a 29gallon tank at 10 inches. They arent the best beginner gar, but if you take the proper precautions and continue doing research you may make out ok.

Can we get a pic of this Gar?

simply put. i got my longnose last december at around 7-8". and now he is almost 17". as jordan said longnose gars should never be put in a tank that is to big cuz they may break their back. but also make sure that the width of the tank your gar is in is double the size of the fish. giving him plenty of room to turn. your gar will max out somewhere between 24 and 36". if the fish happens to grow to near 36" then it will be better to have a pond ready for him.(not saying it will max out at 36" but every fish is different and it possibly could) polys are good tankmates for gar as well.
and they are definatly not the easiest gar for a beginner.

I have a 140L tank that is 100cm x 30cm x 45cm, should i rather have him in that till he is 30cm?
What do they eat in the nature?
He is in a 400L at the owner right now soooo...
Not the best beginner gar, well i dont care im gonna care for that fish periot.
Im in Iceland i just take what is offered too me....
Its priced for 250 in the LFS but my friend is gonna sell his for 150!
