posting bail
Hey guys, I just came across an awesome deal on a blue and gold macaw with a nice cage and am now making room for it. I am doing some more research now but I am super excited about it and wanted to let you guys know. I will post some pictures up as soon as I get him.

My uncle has a pair, and they're awesome. Bit crazy sometimes, but awesome none the less.

make sure you understand the time and effort these guys take, I have a quaker parrot and he takes up most of my spare time, you must have extreme patience and you must be able to take an extremely painful bite and stay very calm and quiet
you must also know that these guys will do flock calls that can be heard very far away so if you have neighbors that aren't too fond of noise then I would not get him
and your going to have to save money for a lot of toys as these guys should have their toys changed up and replaced often
and that is not to mention their food
you will have to make fresh food twice a day for them and for them to have pellets and water available at all times

please think long and hard especially if this is an impulse buy
I only have a little quaker and sure she is one of the best animals Ive ever had the privilage to meet, he takes a lot of time and a lot of effort

oh and the mess is crazy, they can learn to project their poop and they love flinging their food and think its funny that you will pick up whatever they throw or drop

but if you are prepared and fully understand then I couldn't recommend a bird more than anything especially macaws as they can be the sweetest
also you may want to go to a shelter or that and get some hands on experience and knowledge of these birds

Macaws take a great deal of time and must be let outside the cage to get exercise. Be prepared to hear ear-splitting screams at dawn and dusk. BUT they are great companions and very affectionate. Just like a dog. They are like children though and need/want your attention or they will let you know they are not pleased. Good luck and enjoy. Most macaws I have encountered have a gender preference and dislike the other sex.

I always wanted parrot... but the time I MUST PUT IN IS CRAZY. I'm gonna get one someday and it will be Parrotlet. Smallest parrot you can get.

Awesome ...congradulations...looking forward to seeing pics..

lol YES. A house roughly block and a half away distance wise has 2 of them. I can hear them scream when I am in my yard. I myself love it and during cold spell when she brought them in missed their scream.

That scream sure does travel but great looking birds.

Fantastic they are awesome pretty birds. They love the outdoors just in case you opt to build something for outside for warm months or out just during day.

Area neighbor has scarlets

Have you thought about getting another quaker? I ask as they seem to travel in large groups maybe another bird for yours to have as company will free up your time.

They have nests here that look like a bush growing off a telephone pole thats how many twigs, branches they use , fantastic looking birds .

I have not heard back from the guy that was going to sell it to me. Looks like I might not get him :-(. I was really excited but i guess I should be saving my money for a female mata anyways...
