Hi all, so I’m upgrading from a 29g tank to a 125g tank (My last fish jumped out the one day I left a hole on the top open.. time for a bigger tank for bigger fish..).

So, I want to know what kind of equipment I should buy for it.. like, what’s the best brand and what models?

I need 2 filters, a heater (Or two, if the store ill buy from doesn’t have any that high powered), I need some special lights that are like Moon Lights or Lunar Lights, as I’m getting fish that are a bit sensitive to bright lights... Also, what’s the best sand to buy? I’m tired of gravel, and want sand, plus I’ve read that the fish I want prefers sand as well...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks...

For sand maybe go with pool filter sand? As for filtration I would go with canisters or you could go with a wet/dry. For a wet/dry it's alot cheaper to make one yourself but if you prefer canisters some good ones are the eheims and the fluvals.

Will something such as pool filter sand be safe for the fish though? Someone told me a while back that sandbox sand was ok, but then another person said it could be deadly for my fish..?

Play/sandbox sand is good you just have to wash it a lot.. the dust is pretty bad... you don't want the dust getting into the fish or your filters. if you fill the tank and it ends up its dusty just siphon the dusty water out and add new water till its clear. pool filter sand is also good and i think its less fine so it would be easier on filters?

Pool Filter sand is perfectly safe you just have to rinse it good before adding it in. I'd use that over the play/sandbox sand, sometimes that stuff includes little bits of plastic and other non natural elements, depending on where you got it from
