I’m thinking about buying a wet/ dry sump for a new tank that is being delivered. The tank size is 180g. I have never used one before, would like to know the PRO’s and CONS between this type of filtration versus a power canister filter? What else needs to be considered or ordered? How can I ensure the sump won’t overflow and drain the tank, I live in an apartment building on bottom floor so the pump needs to be quite…any links or sites to direct me to for these answers would be appreciated…..

If it's 180 gallons, you should use at least one of each.

Wet/dry filtration is superior biological filtration. It can also provide good mechanical filtration, depending on how you set up your wet/dry. They can be very customizable, so it's up to you how good it is.

Canisters are excellent mechanical/chemical filtration, and they get stuff off the bottom more easily.
