I recently purchased a Redfin Pickerel and it should arrive in a few days, going to take my bass over to a friends house who has a bigger tank so i decided to post a video of him

I have a 65 gallon with a fluval aqua clear 110 power filter and a 3ft light fixture with 2 10000k bulbs and 2 actinics with lots of plants and cover (can be seen in video) I was wondering if anyone who had a redfin pickerel before could give me some tips or things to look out for also been wondering if I should get a tank mate or just stick with the pickerel?

Ive had a 9 inch Redfin pickerel in a 60 gallon for about a year now. A few things I've noticed:
- mine seems to become very stressed when hungry. He runs into walls and flips out.
- whatever you do, don't keep sunfish with them. Sunfish always seem to attack them and bite their fins.
- non aggressive tank mates are best. These fish are not aggressive and won't attack otherwise unless they view it as food. The best tank mate I've had with mine was a black crappie.
- these fish can and will eat fish up to half their size.
- these fish don't really move a lot unless it is feeding time. They kinda just hover there.
- they are pretty hardy fish. Mine survived ich from feeders and fin rot from infected words of a sunfish attack. ( I got rid of the redbreasted sunfish)
- I got mine on frozen silversides but he seems to prefer live feeders( I catch them myself after the ich incident)
Overall they are awesome fish. I just love the bright red fins and the dark olive green "camouflage" they have while hunting.
